Sometimes technology comes around that is so impressive, we forget to ask: do we need it? UltimateClassicRock.com ran a story stating that the late Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly would go on a hologram tour together. This definitely won’t be the first time the technology has been used, and not even the first time Roy Orbison has “gone” on a hologram tour, but it will mark the first time in decades crowds will be able to see the two legendary rockers together on stage. It’s just this time they will only be there in “spirit” if you will.
I’m not sure how I feel about hologram tours. The family and estates have cleared for their images to be used. Part of me thinks this is a great was to bring some of the best rock artists of all time to new generations…but at the same time it seems a little slimy to me to be making all this tour money off dead people.
What do you think? Are you okay with hologram tours? And if so, what artist would you like to see again (or maybe for the first time) in a hologram concert?
