Why Ditching Your Bra Could Be Good For You

Why Ditching Your Bra Could Be Good For You

Did you see the hashtag #NoBraDay floating around social media this week? Apparently, it’s a day we’re encouraged to shed our undergarments to help raise awareness during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But since we’ve all been spending more time at home this year, pretty much every day can be no bra day. While some women prefer wearing a bra, it turns out going bra-free does come with some benefits.

  • It could reduce pain – An ill-fitting bra can cause shoulder, back and neck pain, and a cheap or lacey style could irritate your skin. But if you don’t wear one, you don’t have to deal with that.
  • It may help you breathe easier – Some of us have been needing to pause and take a deep breath more often to cope with 2020, but that can be trickier if you’re wearing a bra that doesn’t fit properly. If you feel like you can’t take a full deep breath because of your bra, it’s too tight.
  • It could clear up body acne – If you don’t wash your bra every single day – and who does? – dirt and bacteria can build up and lead to breakouts. Not wearing eliminates that risk.
  • It saves money – You know how much a decent bra will cost you these days and by going braless more often, your old ones won’t get worn out as quickly. And if you don’t have to buy new bras so often, you’ll have more money for important things, like new shoes.
