We haven’t even finished with Halloween, let alone Thanksgiving, but a new report suggests some people are already getting into the Christmas spirit by enjoying their favorite holiday films.
A new survey finds:
- One in three Americans has already watched a holiday movie this year.
- 40% started watching them in October, while 37% started in September
- 20% actually started watching them in August or earlier.
- As for why they started so early, 20% said it gave them the extra cheering up they needed this year.
- 14% had run out of other things to watch, while 10% were simply bored.
And it seems lots of people started their holiday movie watching earlier than they usually do.
- 56% of people say in previous years they had a rule about when it was acceptable to watch holiday content.
- 25% waited until December 1st to watch them.
- 23% were okay starting on Thanksgiving Day.
So, when it comes to holiday movies, which are the ones folks watch year after year?
- Well, “Home Alone” is the top choice for 24% of Americans, followed by:
- “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” (23%)
- “It’s a Wonderful Life” (22%)
- “A Christmas Story” (22%)
- “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (22%)
- “Frosty the Snowman” (21%)
- “A Charlie Brown Christmas” (21%)
- “A Miracle on 34th Street” (19%)
